portable software licencing

Can I licence my software installed on a usb flash drive? It shouldn't require purchasing a new licence when the drive is sticked to a new machine.

Hey Mike,

No, all of our licensing solutions are locked to the machine. This is by design. "Dongle type" licensing adds unnecessary expense for you and your end-users.

You'd be best using floating licensing for this use-case: https://wyday.com/limelm/help/licensing-types/#floating

In this case the end-user can move from computer to computer without ever having to plug in a random unknown dongle (avoiding security concerns altogether).

Let me know if that make sense.

How is it going to work? Where do you install the turbofloat server in this case? The software itself costs $25 for lifetime. The customers wouldn't run a server just for this. Can you lock the software to the USB only?

No, you cannot lock to a USB drive. There's not nearly enough information on the drive itself.

You have a few options:

1. Host the TFS on your hardware.2. Have the customer host the TFS on a device they own.3. Just use TurboActivate and when they want to use your software on a new computer have them deactivate from the first computer. Covered here: https://wyday.com/limelm/help/activations/#deactivate

There are lots of options. "Locking" to a USB drive is not one of them.
