this access control list is not in canonical from

One of my clients tried to update to my last version and wyupdate showed this message

"this access control list is not in canonical form and there for cannot be modified"

Really urgent what is happening?

I'm tracking down the problem right now.

Ok, I've tracked down a probable cause. But first I need a bit more information.

  • Did the user use Sysinternals Newsid utility to reset the SID of the machine or image?
  • Is the user running on a Virtual Machine (VPC, VMware, etc.)?
  • Is your user running on a copied OS (as in duplicated bit-for-bit and stored on a new hard drive)?
  • What version of Windows is your user running on (XP Pro, XP Home, Windows 2003, etc.)?
  • What admin level is your user running at (Limited user, Admin User, Guest User, Elevated Limited User (for Vista/7), Elevated Admin User (for Vista/7)?

I wiil answer you tommorow.

Thanks

The computer has already made several updates for my application in the past

Ok, this problem (and several others) will be fixed by Monday with wyBuild 2.5.4.

Thanks for reporting this.

Edit 11/9/09: We're running v2.5.4 through a series of tests. It should be released tomorrow barring no regressions.

Ok, this should be fixed in wyBuild & wyUpate 2.5.5. All you have to do is rebuild your updates, and when they update your product the newer fixed wyUpdate (v2.5.5) will be used.
