They need to enable automatic updates. Specifically, Automatic Root Certificate Updates.
Then apply all the updates they've missed over the years.
And they need to use the latest TurboActivate.
Covered here: https://wyday.com/limelm/help/faq/#internet-error
I don't know what it means to use latest TurboActivate in our case, you mean link to latest libraries? This is not an option as we can't rebuild 4-5 years old software/installers…
Ok, well at the very least start with updating the OS. If that doesn’t fix it, update TA. That means either update your old app, or force them to update to a new version of your app.
We can’t fix bugs that happened in the past.
I mean, we can, obviously: hence the new versions that we continually release.
But we can’t go back in time.
More than 30 clients have already contacted us about this problem. What did you do with your servers? We cannot update all of their Windows, there are too many of them. We have about 1000 clients and Most of them using old Windows 7! Everything worked fine until recently.
If the customer has a machine in which they didn’t disable Windows update, then everything will be fine. The customer has to go out of their way to break things.
So, like I said above:
They need to enable automatic updates. Specifically, Automatic Root Certificate Updates.
They don’t have to update to Windows 8, 10, or 11 (they should for their own safety, but they don't need to). They just need to have a fully patched Windows 7.
You do know how to update Windows or Root Certificates, I know how to do it, and most users do not know because they are ordinary users. They don't know how to enable Windows update or Root certificates. Thus, we must do this - go to each client machine and update the root certificates. Can you imagine what a great job is this?
They just need to enable automatic updates. Which is on by default.
They had to go out of their way to turn off automatic updates. Which means they know how to turn it back on.
many of my clients reported those issues as well
