Floating Softlock License Server - "The sent data exceeds the maximum allowed data. Request has been rejected."Answered

Hi there,

I am helping troubleshoot a client floating license server set-up on custom ports 2708 & 2709.

The License server is active and visible, but when the application is run it said there was no license. Randomly after about 10 minutes the license worked.

In the middle of the troubleshooting, the log was checked and we received error: “The sent data exceeds the maximum allowed data. Request has been rejected.”

What is this error and how do we get rid of it?

Also, is there something else (i.e: FlexLM) running on Ports 2708 & 2709, or 27,008 & 27,009 that would be interfering with their license server set up?

Thank you!

If you have other things talking on that port, then the TFS will attempt to parse it, and fail if it wasn't sent by a TF library client.

So, getting malformed data will cause that warning in the log.

Long story short: if you send junk data to the TFS it will treat it as junk and tell you about it.
