Is there another way to get the license of the active TurboFloat server without stopping it, using the latest version 4..4.0 on Windows? I see that the tfs log files shows already the key.

You can't; at least not use the TurboFloat API.
Stop the TFS instance, then use -v to get all details about the license. More here: TurboFloat Server Commandline options.
And, needless to say, when LicenseChest is out you'll be able to see the product key when the TFS instance is running.
