When creating a manual authorization file via the web API, how is the validity date determined?Answered

We had a customer recently generate a manual authorization file and it took some unknown number of days to get to us (apparently he went on a fishing trip). We uploaded it on 9/18, according to our system, and sent him the file. He tried to use the response file today (9/28), and it failed with TA_FAIL.

Since the Web API doesn't appear to support setting the activation validity date, I'd like to understand:

  1. Is the default 14 days still applied?
  2. Is the applied time computed based on when the file was computed on the client machine, or when it was uploaded by us?
  3. Is there some way to know for sure the activation validity time when the response file is created?

I don't think there is any error with LimeLM to be corrected here, I just want to be able to give our tech support guidance on when a response file will no longer be valid.

Thanks,

Chris

The default has changed. I believe it’s around 7 days right now. If the customer can’t provide the activation request to you in a timely manner, there is always online activation which requires 0 interaction with you.

We would absolutely prefer all customers use online activation! Unfortunately for this customer, that isn't an option.

I'll let our support group know that it is 7 days from when we generate the response file?
