Suggestions for DevOps SetupsAnswered

I understand that it is possible to automate the patch building process of wyBuild using the command line tools. I currently am using wyBuild on my development machine and would like to move to a server setup.

I'm looking for suggestions from experienced users (and the wyBuild team of course) on services/tools and details to be aware of. What's worked well for you guys? I know this request is a bit general and it depends on other parts of my pipeline.

For example, recommended specs for the server?

Answer

Honestly, most patch creation is I/O bound. So fast drives. Nothing really specialized is needed. And the exact server specs really depend on your workload.

We'd recommend running things on your workstation first. See what parts of the update process are stressing which parts of your setup, then adjust your server accordingly.

But you can go pretty cheap.

Will I have wyBuild license issues on, for example, an Amazon Lightsail VM?

Answer

You would need a separate license for your build server. But other than that, no, everything will work fine.
