Hardware information in activation XML fingerprint?

Hi,

We have a customer who's concerned about having their hardware information present in the activation XML.

I realize you can't disclose exactly how the fingerprint is generated, but we'd like to assure them that the XML does not contain hardware information itself (only a unique identifier generated from it). Is this true?

In other words, would a determined individual with a great deal of time on their hands be able to reverse-engineer the hardware information out of the activation XML, or is that information hashed/encrypted in such a way that this is impossible?

Jonathan.

The proprietary fingerprinting algorithm that we use to of the computer (or device) has evolved over more than a decade. Currently the design is such that it's unique, but not personally identifiable. That is, if someone intercepted (and used a billion dollars worth of computing power to decrypt the fingerprint) then the information they would gain would not tell them who owns the computer / device, or anything identifiable about the customer or company that owns the device.
