TurboFloat server & root access

Hi

Could you explain please why server need root access (Linux)? Is it possible to activate and run float server without root access?

It is critical for our customers.

The TurboFloat Server design requires admin access because Linux APIs do not provide enough access to fairly basic things.

They can run on Windows without "root" access. Or, coming soon we're offering a hosted version of the TurboFloat Server that runs on our infrastructure.

Or, if they're set on using Linux, and set on using it on devices they control, they can always buy a low-cost device like a raspberry pi (or one of the thousand alternatives) and put the TurboFloat Server on that (we have an ARM version of all of our products).

any option to make linux floating server which is not require superuser? what would be limitation then?

No, there's no option for running the Linux version of the TFS without admin / su privileges.

The options are:

1. Continue to use TFS on linux with su priv.

2. Use TFS on another OS (Windows, macOS, etc.) that deosn't require admin priv to run.

3. Use our hosted version of TFS (coming soon).
