Customers experiencing error 13 today?

Hi,

we had two reports in a very short timeframe of error 13 on product activation, one from Italy and one from Greece. They both report to have timezone and time correct and yet still can not activate.

Is anybody else experiencing this? There is a windows update rolling out some maybe that is the culprit for some configurations?

I know this might a coincidence so i'm not pointing any fingers, just double checking, as this very rarely happens and two reports within 1 hour are very sospicious 🙂

Probably a coincidence. At any rate this is the solution (from TurboActivate.h):

/* MessageId: TA_E_EXPIRED Message code (in Hex): 0xD Message code (in Decimal): 13

The activation has expired or the system time has been tampered with. Ensure your time, timezone, and date settings are correct.

If you know for sure the offline activation (or offline verified trial) has not expired, then the problem is fraudulent date/time/timezone. To fix the problem do the following in order, don't skip a step:

1. Fix the timezone on the device. 2. Fix the date on the device. 3. Fix the time on the device. 4. Restart the device.

Step 1 is critical. As is step 4.*/

Yeah, i did forward them the steps but neither of them was still able to fix the issue. I assume it was a coincidence though, no more reports came in and for some reason this morning it was fixed. Maybe the forgot to reboot the pc, dunno 🙂

Yeah, most customers skip that step and think it should just work. That step is important. As is the timezone step.
