TFS: Error 1053 - Service will not start

Hi,

We have a customer on Windows7 Pro SP1 where TFS will simply refuse to execute. We never saw that are running out of ideas. The error Windows prompt is Error1053: The service did not respond in a timely fashion.

We use the same setup on many client sites (x86 version of TFS whatever the machine is), same config file, only the path to the log file changes.

I tried to run TFS from the command line with -x I believe and the server runs fine from the command line. Only the service will refuse to start.

Any idea would be welcome.

More information is needed. What version of the TFS are you using? If it's not the latest version, then start by updating to the latest version and trying again.

Next, make sure logging is enabled in the config files.

Next, make sure no other instances of the TFS are running. If they are then the service will fail to start. That is by design. Only a single instance for the LimeLM product version can run on a machine.

Version: 4.0.9.3Another TFS instance: NoLogging: Yes, but only for the warning level.

Ill update this customer to the latest version, just to see if there is a difference.
