Should I update TurboActivate.dat after trial period change?

Hi,

I am testing trial activation on a 'clean' machine. The call to TA_UseTrial() with (TA_VERIFIED_TRIAL | TA_USER | TA_DISALLOW_VM | TA_DISALLOW_SANDBOX) returns a "TA_E_INET" error.

Internet connection should not be a problem since other machines in the same LAN can connect to the license server, and 'ping wyday.com' from that machine gets response too (btw, is this the proper way to verify internet connection?).

What I suspect might be the problem is that, I changed the trial period from 30 days to 1 day for test purpose, and the testing machine is using the old TurboActivate.dat downloaded when the trial period is set to 30 days.Based on what I read from other posts, I think the trial period length is specified in TurboActivate.dat file.

So is this actually the problem? Do I need to use the new TurboActivate.dat in order to activate the trial? (sorry I don't wanna try it without your confirmation in case I cannot re-produce the error later).

If yes, does that mean the TurboActivate.dat file, and hence our release software, will always need to be updated when we change the trial period?

Thanks!

No, because you're pinging the HTTP side of things (might be intercepted), you're not seeing the result (might be intercepted & modified) and you're not using the same proxies as TurboActivate. The best way to test things is described in the FAQ: https://wyday.com/limelm/help/faq/#internet-error

No. Unverified trials will need a new TurboActivate.dat file for a new trial length. Verified trials use the data that's on the servers (and ignore the trial length in the TurboActivate.dat file).
