WMI issuesAnswered

Hi, our software uses the most recent Turbo Activate version 5.0.2.0.  We have seen several clients' PCs and a few internal tester PCs fail with the ‘Disabled Network Adapters' error.  I was able to fix these issues using the WMI corruption fix (https://wyday.com/limelm/help/faq/#fix-broken-wmi) that I found in this forum, so that was very helpful.

The question I have is: do you know why this seems to happen with as high a frequency as it has for us? It suddenly started to happen on several PCs in the last year or so and we've had about 10+ instances of this issue happening on various PCs in the field.  Does the latest version (or some recent version after 4.4.4.0) resolve something that will prevent this from happening in the future?

For more context: We were on an older version (Turbo Activate v4.4.4.0) of the windows Turbo Activate C# lib for quite a while (since June 2022) and upgraded our software to use to the latest Turbo Activate version (v5.0.2.0) as of July 2025.  In some cases we would get the 'Disabled Network Adapters' Error after clients had upgraded from the older version, and in other cases we would get it before they upgraded.  In all cases after upgrading and/or running the WMI fix (https://wyday.com/limelm/help/faq/#fix-broken-wmi) on their system - it would solve the issue.

Thanks in advance for any additional information or clarifications you can provide.

Answer

Just use 5.0.2.0 (or newer) for all your users. We fix a ton of bugs (including working around bugs in network drivers and Windows itself).

The quality of hardware released in the last few years has dropped and we're working around more bugs than ever before. So, use the latest TA.
