TurboFloat server error on FreebSD 14.2: Can't run from chroot or jail.

Hi,
Under FreeBSD 14.2, when I tried to launch turbofloatserver, I got the error Can't run from chroot or jail.

To test it, I'm running it directly as root and I have no jail running at all.
Any idea why I encounter this error ?
In advance thank you for your help

That's by design. You cannot run from chroot or jail.

I know, but as explained, I'm neither in chroot nor jail and got this error.

Sorry if it wasn't clear in my previous message

Are you on a VM?

Not at all, I'm on a physical server.

Is there anything I can do to get this working on FreeBSD ? If you need more info, or tests I can conduct, I'll happily help to solve this matter.

Sorry for insisting, but it would be very great to have a solution for FreeBSD.
As stated I'm ready to help you test this, I can even give you access to a FreeBSD server if you want to check this yourself.

We're going to try to reproduce this.

Hello,
Did you had time to try it out ?
Many thanks in advance

Using the ZFS or UFS filesystems it works as designed. What filesystem are you using for your root partition?

I'm using ZFS.
I just tested on a third server with a completely different hardware, and the problem is the same. When launching bin-freebsd/x64/turbofloatserver  I have the error "Can't run from chroot or jail."

Hello,
Did you make any progress regarding this ? I also tried to the latest FreeBSD release version, 14.3 and got the same issue. As stated, i can give you an access to my server if you need to make some tests.
Many thanks in advance

I just installed a FreeBSD 13.5 to check on an old OS version, and the problem is the same.
I even tried to launch it directly on the server using the root session, so no ssh or any remote session, the error is the same: “<error> : Can't run from chroot or jail.”

Hello,

I'm still trying to get the TurboFloat server working on FreeBSD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a working system, which FreeBSD version are you using ? Are you running it as the root user or did you create a specific one ?

Many thanks in advance

Hello,

I'm still trying to get it work on FreeBSD.

FYI, I got the same issue on FreeBSD 15.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Ronan

We're closing in on the next release but using the latest FreeBSD with ZFS root we haven't been able to reproduce this.
