Strange issue with TurboActivate

Hello Wyatt,

We have our product released to the customer and it uses Turbo Activate licensing. We had given an activation limit of '10' for the customer's email address and the number of activation's soon reached the limit.

Customers complained that they have used only '6' of the '10' licenses. On further investigation we found that there were multiple registrations from the same IP addresses which was causing this problem so we manually deactivated some of these as a temporary fix.

The people activating their software are behind one specific gateway. [i.e employees working on several machines all connected to same gateway]

First and foremost I want to understand this:1. When a user activates the license on his machine is it the gateway's IP that is used or the IP of the machine?2. Can this problem occur if they are using VPN?3. Is this is a bug in Turbo Activate ?

If you need more information please let me know.Any help regarding this would be highly invaluable.

Thanks.Srinivas

The IP address doesn't matter. It's shown only for informational purposes. It's not used at all in TurboActivate's proprietary fingerprinting algorithm.

So, either the customer is using more than 6 computers. Or they're modifying the computers such that TurboActivate sees them as different computers.
