Server down because maintenance ?Answered

Hello,

Yesterday, at least between 23:30 UTC and 1:30 UTC, we could not access to LimeLM via the API (at least). A few hours before, I also noticed that the web admin and the forum were down for a short time. Lastly, the TurboActivate version is now 5.0.0.0 for Windows, while it's the 2-years old 4.4.4.1 for the other platform.

Was it maintenance ? A bug ? Is there a big API update coming ?
In any case, this is very problematic for our users.

Thank you for the info.

Hey Philippe,

We had about 45 minutes of unplanned downtime last night. It was due to a misconfiguration. We’re investigating how to reduce these type of errors.

Yes, 5.x is coming for all platforms: https://wyday.com/forum/t/31229/network-adapters-all-solutions-tried/#post-52447

It’ll be out when it’s out.

Your customers should’ve been minimally impacted by the downtime. You should not be contacting our servers at every launch of your app. If you are, that’s a bug in your software and should be fixed.

Following our pre-written examples will have your app contacting our server at most once every X days (with a Y day grace period). Meaning anything following our articles and examples would not be affected by the downtime (planned or unplanned).

Come on Wyatt : the problem was not machines already activated, but people wanting to activate a new one ! Also people buying a license and waiting for license generation.
The importance of the downtime really depends on the final application : if you work for shows and events, yes, it could be important.

Anyway, our company has been using TA for almost 12 years now. We rarely had a problem with it. Just reporting an issue so your team could be aware about it. I think it's nice.
I never asked about when TA 5 will out. I perfectly know the answer …

Understood. I apologize for the downtime. We strive to have as little as possible. But we inevitably run into events either out of our control or that we didn’t anticipate. We try to reduce both of those, but life is life; we can’t reduce chaos and uncertainty to 0 (no matter how hard we try ).

Hello,

The API is down again right now. It also has been down yesterday for a few hours.

I was not used to that many downtimes.

Best. Philippe
