wyUpdate stopped by anti-virus

We are having some issues with the updater not working on client environments. One thing we do know is that AVG consistently blocks wyUpdate.

Can you submit wyUpdate to all the anti-virus makers for whitelisting?

wyUpdate is not listed as a virus by any major virus scanner. See: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/aa71c676499260ed07b6b0e54aff155ad8e46b49aee933e90b5ff4dd098aadb6/analysis/1441380325/

Make sure you're using our build of wyUpdate. It's signed by us. Don't use custom versions of wyUpdate unless you know how to ensure that there are no false positives. Also, some virus scanners / "system protectors" incorrectly flag files that are run from the %appdata% folder. So, make sure your app is installed in Program Files.

We are not using a custom version of wyUpdate.

AVG is not alerting the user that wyUpdate is a virus, it's just blocking wyUpdate until we manually add exceptions.

Note: wyUpdate is being initiated from a service that is running under the local system account.

You mean the firewall? Well, that's a configuration issue with the firewall. Add wyUpdate as an exception and/or just open all outgoing connections like all sane firewall configurations allow.
