Happy Halloween everyone!
I'm up to 38 minutes to build, and the 87 .wyu files for our latest version are at 1.35 GB. Uploading the files isn't particularly speedy, either. Our MSI installer of the latest version is 45 MB. Our next collection of .wyu files will be even larger. If we keep releasing regular updates, in the (not so distant) future we may not even be able to build updates due to time or size. This is a crippling limitation.
We need to be able to create updates for recent versions, and fall back to using the "all" updates for older versions. There are probably other solutions to this issue, and I've seen mention of "incremental" updates in a future version.
I'd rather not spend the time, but it looks like I have no choice but to modify the wyUpdate source. I've hesitated to do so because my changes may be incompatible with a future release. Now that I see it in writing, "a future release" looks like I'm making a joke. Seeing promises of an upcoming update in the forum for the past two years, I guess I don't really have any reason to believe the latest assurances, either.
As great as everything else about wyBuild and wyUpdate are, I'm really regretting utilizing a software product that hasn't had an update in *two years*. I went against my better judgement and let the active forum responses and positive initial testing persuade me to move forward. This major flaw, that I wish I'd seen sooner, should have been fixed years ago.
