Floating Lic

After reading through the topics here am I to understand that the floating license server runs at the client site? Is there any way to host the float lic server on a single web server that manages all my customer's licenses? Or is this only found in higher end services?

Is there any way to lock the floating lic server to a specific machine and OS so that customers can't mess with it using VMs and so forth?

After reading through the topics here am I to understand that the floating license server runs at the client site?

Correct.

Is there any way to host the float lic server on a single web server that manages all my customer's licenses?

No. If you describe what you're trying to do, I might be able to give you a way to handle it. But no, TurboFloat Server is designed to handle an allotment of "slots" or "clients" that can run your app at one time. This number of "slots" is specified in the product key you sell to the customer.

Or is this only found in higher end services?

Higher-end services? I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about competitors to LimeLM? You'll find comparable design in a couple of cases. And you'll even find competitors that jack up the prices. But if you're talking about competitors to LimeLM then you'll be hard-pressed to find better design.

Is there any way to lock the floating lic server to a specific machine and OS so that customers can't mess with it using VMs and so forth?

Yes, that's what the TurboFloat Server does out of the box. Just set the product key to be a "TurboFloat Server" key and set it to not be run on virtual machines. Then just follow the TurboFloat Server article on how to activate a TurboFloat Server instance on a specific machine using a product key.
