How can a user clear his activations if the accout is canceled?

I have a product that uses limelm licences, which were sold to many customers. After a few years I've decided to stop selling new licences and want to cancel my limelm subscription. Your website states thet customers will still have the option to activate and deactivate purchased products. How will they be able to deactivate licences if they decide to switch computers and old ones are not accessible to deactivate the product or if they upgrade hardware and forget to deactivate the software prior to upgradig?

As long as they still have the old hardware they can deactivate your product from it. Even if it means they have to reinstall windows and re-activate your product on the old computer. Then they'll be able to de-activate on the old computer. After that they can simply install and activate on their new computer.

For customers that have lost access to their old computer, then you'll need to de-activate them in LimeLM (which means you'll need to re-enable your LimeLM account for that action -- you can cancel again afterward if you want).

Are you switching to another licensing product? Are you unhappy with LimeLM? Or are you just discontinuing selling the product?

I'm happy with limeLM. I'm simply discontinuing sales of the current product, but I still wish to support my customers. It would be great if TurboActivate or the API would offer a way for customers to clear product activations once they have the need to do so. Currently I have 10 - 20 activation clearing problems every month (my software is used mostly on VPS servers and my clients do not have access to previously used hardware for deactivation). I would really like to provide a way for my customers to deactivate the products.

Re enabling the account every month will not make much sense to me. Is there another way or lower payment plan which would not enable me to create new activations or delete old ones, but would give me access to occasionally clear licenses?

We don't currently have anything like that. But shoot me an email and we can work something out: wyatt@wyday.com

TurboFloat is the best solution for cases like this. That is, a TurboFloat Server instance sits on a real piece of hardware and dishes out "license leases" to your app running somewhere on the customer's VPS.

Would setting the number of allowed activations to a large number like 999 work for you?

The Lime folks might be able to do this for you to all the product keys for the product. Or if not that, maybe they can tell you a way you can get it done without manually editing every product key. Perhaps url's generated from a list of the keys.

I suppose this could work only for TA activations. As I understand it, TF presently does not allow specifying multiple activations for a product key, although that may be coming soon.

Come to think of it, this might be a good approach for fully "retired" products that don't compete with new ones.
