TurboFloat Server: de-activating licence from command line?

Hi guys,

Is there a command line that does the reverse to -a? (In order to un-activate a key so to free the licence on LimeLM server to be activated on another server.)

This would be handy when moving TFS from one machine to another without us having to come into play.

Best regards,Alexandre Leclerc

We're considering this. We actually want to add the ability for you to limit (or disable completely) the ability to deactivate from within your LimeLM dashboard.

So this is coming, but we want to give you more control first.

Hi Wyatt,

This is an excellent idea. So far, the next release will be very interesting.

Best regards,Alexandre Leclerc

Bump ...

Is there any progress on being able to deactivate the licence for TurboFloat Server from the command line?

Also it would be useful to have a command line option to output the current server key.

Regards,Robin

Yes, it has already been written and it's coming in the next version.

Great, any ETA? We're just about ready to deploy this to our customers.

I've been thinking further about this, and with the current version I don't actually see any way to check if the customer has deactivated the first licence when they want to move it other than waiting for the 90 day "isgenuine" period to elapse. Here's the scenario as I see it:1. Customer installs floating server with 10 licences2. After 10 days they say they want to move server, so we deactivate the licence from our dashboard3. They install and activate on the new server4. But the old server can still run for another 80 days before it will force an update, in the meantime they can use 20 licences!Did I miss something? Regards,Robin

A week or 2.

4. But the old server can still run for another 80 days before it will force an update, in the meantime they can use 20 licences!Did I miss something?

Nope, that's correct. That's why we're adding the ability for the customer to deactivate the TFS.

Bump again ... any sign of the new release?Regards,Robin

It's coming at the same time as TurboActivate 4.0. Hopefully within the month.

Hello, to prevent either malicious or inadvertent use of the extra licenses during the 80 day 'isgenuine' period, what option do we have?

Force the user to deactivate their TFS (as opposed to deactivting remotely from the LimeLM interface). This ability is being added to TFS 4.0 (as said earlier in this thread).

The alternative is to not let users deactivate their TFS instance.
