Problem updating swf files

Hi, sorry but I also have an issue in that when I update an .swf file in my application and process it for an update the swf is not updated. Is this because the flash.exe process is running do you think?

OK, tested this with a swf file which was not running or loaded into any process and I still have the same issue in that it is not being updated by the updater. I would really like to purchase this application but I would need it to update my flash generated exes and swf files. Are there any other file format types I should be aware of that it will not update?I have a set of PDFs, .DOC, .PPT files which will all require updates in my application package - will wyBuild do this?

Thanks for your help.John

looking at the execute after updating option I can see that I am able to rename the file and then launch this version - that appears to be working OK. As long as I rename all the files will they all update? It's still a great product!!

All files (including swfs) should update fine. And if it doesn't update wyUpdate will throw an error.

When you were designing your updates in wyBuild, did you make sure that the swf files in separate version referred to separate files on your disk? Like in the picture:

The first version of a.swf is in the version1 folder, then in another folder (e.g. version2, or whatever) you have the second version of a.swf. If you flip back in forth between the two version tabs do you see differences in the Local path for your swf file?

Hey thanks for all your responses. My issue with the swf is still current but I am planning to get round it by renaming files and deleting old ones. I will explore this a bit further as ideally updating the existing swf would be the way forward but I do seem to have a problem with this working. As I said all the other files update OK (content of text files etc.) I'll keep you updated on this . . .

I'm going to try to reproduce you problem. Is the swf file being used in a browser, or is it being run standalone with flash.exe? If it's being run with a standalone, is the flash.exe in your program's directory?

Are you given any type of warning from wyUpdate when you're updating from one version to the next?
