Hi Morten,
The number activations is total activations.
Hi,
On your plans you have "300 activations", "1200 activations" and so on. Is this the amount of total activations or allowed activations pr. Month?
Thanks.

Hi Morten,
The number activations is total activations.
I had been wondering about the same thing. But I still uncler on one thing. What counts as an activation? Are we talking about total concurrent active activations hadled by LimeLM? Or would the case of deactivating a license one one computer and reactivating it on another also be considered an activation?
Maye you should consider putting this information on the product pages.

Each product key can have one or more activations. The second you generate a product key the activation count goes up. That is, the user down't have to activate for the activation count to go up. The user can activate on one computer, deactivate, and then activate on another computer and the activation count is unchanged.
Tell me if this helps.

We're trying to make this clearer. It's hard to without information overload.
Mainly we use activations as a price differentiator - large companies pay more for LimeLM than small companies.
But this is strange as you say is TOTAL activations. Because the nr of activations will eventually grow beyond your plan, while we could still be a small company. So if I have an x number of activations per month on avereage, at some point I reach the limit of my plan , and from then on I will pay more per month even if the average number of activations pr month stay the same?If it is total activations, why would I subscribe to a hight account now? Why not just start wit a small one and then upgrade once the limit is reached?
Would you consider adding plans that allow a certain nr of activations per month?
Btw the info on your website is still not very clear on this. Only the Solo plan mentions the word 'total'.

We encourage this. If you only need the Solo plan, just sign up for that plan . You can upgrade when you grow out of it.

You're right, it's unclear. We have a clearer page that will be uploaded soon.
Hey Sjoerd,

I agree that it's not directly proportional to how well a company is doing financially. Unfortunately, this appears to be the best way of selling our software profitably. It's imperfect, but it's the best indicator of a company's size. LimeLM is by no means the cheapest licensing solution, but it is the best & easiest to use.
We're always looking for more accurate ways of letting small companies use our software at a discount while our larger customers pay the full price. If you have trouble affording LimeLM, send me an email and we'll work something out.
Of course I don't know what the costs are of running the software on our own servers but somehow I cannot imagine it being more expensive then the monthly fee on the Max plan. So is it common for you that customers move to their own servers once they grow past a certain level?

The self-hosted version of LimeLM is used mostly by large corporations. The price is about equal to that of the Max plan, but it we provide extra support for the self-hosted version: we'll guide you through the installation and even fly out to your company and assist you in the installation if you need it.
It isn't terribly complex to install, but it takes a bit of skill to configure LimeLM to handle a high load of users.
