Hey John,
I am currently using a competitor's product because they offer file checks on all files configured in the updater.
We do file checks as well.
If a file CRC doesn't match whats downloaded from the server, only that file is redownloaded again.
If a file fails to be patched (that is, its "hash" doesn't match because the end-user screwed around with the file) then the catch-all update is downloaded. This is the best behavior for 99.9% of use-cases. Why? Because most users don't screw around with the files on the machine (thus, most users will never ever have to download the catch-all update).
Thus we're saving you time, space, and bandwidth on individually packing files for your app for that 0.1% chance the end-user messed with the binary files.
I saw another thread with you guys saying this is a useless feature
For most people it is. Maybe your customer base frequently messes with the binary files. Most customer bases don't do that.
Also, what is the status on the updates for wyBuild?
They're coming.
I see you guys have been working on a "new version" for over a year now...
We have.
