Problem with version updates

First of all I'd like to say this is a brilliant product and the answer to a big headache for me. So thanks for all you've done.I have had a couple of issues. One of the files taking a very long time to upload - I ended up doing this manually so no big deal. I also had an problem where a version 01.2 of my software would not update to version 01.3 and said that I already had the latest version. Which I did not. If I made a few more versions it eventually agreed that it was out of date but I'm not sure why this happened. Also, it did not update the .exe file which I was my application file. Again, not sure why, it closed the file during update but when I opened it again it was not updated although other files had been.Appreciate your thoughts. Also one more thing is there a size limit? I'm contemplating a pretty big project which may need updating 500Mb or more in size - will this be a problem?bestJohn

another thing. . . .sorry . . . is there a way for a user to actually tell what version they have of the application without running the update software. And ideed, is there anywhere on the update software where we can state you are currently on version X? I know it does that when there is an update but as I said, I had an issue with not updating versions and I'd liked to have checked which version I was actually on.

By the way, I'm launching the exe from a flash built exe and obviously the flash needs to close when the update is running, is there a way, if the flash exe is NOT being updated but other files are that it could remain open?

THe problem I had with exe not updating mentioned above was with the flash created exe file which I changed and included in a new update but my .exe never updated. I could create a new one, and that would appear, but the original one remained the same.

One of the files taking a very long time to upload - I ended up doing this manually so no big deal.

Yes, many people have had problems with the uploading. There should be a fix in the next version of wyBuild (version 1.3).

I also had an problem where a version 01.2 of my software would not update to version 01.3 and said that I already had the latest version. Which I did not. If I made a few more versions it eventually agreed that it was out of date but I'm not sure why this happened.

When you type the version in wyBuild, the "older" versions will appear to the left of the newer versions. The tabs automatically arrange themselves as you're typing the version number.

If this is correct, then make sure you build you update before you upload the files. Also, make sure the "*.wys" (e.g. server.wys) is uploaded to you website. This is the file wyUpdate downloads when it checks for updates.[/quote]

Also, it did not update the .exe file which I was my application file. Again, not sure why, it closed the file during update but when I opened it again it was not updated although other files had been.Appreciate your thoughts.

Is this the swf problem you posted in the other question? I'll answer it over there. If not, tell me.

Also one more thing is there a size limit? I'm contemplating a pretty big project which may need updating 500Mb or more in size - will this be a problem?

No problem at all. In fact, wyBuild was designed to handle this very problem - huge updates that need to be delivered in small patches quickly to your customers.
