Behavior under Guest Account in Win 7

I have a customer that wants a colleague to be able to use my software under the Guest Account in Windows 7. The problem is that an error is generated in the IsActivated routine. I've been able to duplicate this behavior by trying to manually launch 32 bit TurboActive.exe under a Guest Account in Windows 7 on my own machines. I get the message:

"A COM Error occurred. TurboActivate requires Windows XP or above."

Is this expected behavior when running TurboActivate 3.2.2 under a Win 7 Guest account (not surprising given that it is heavily restricted)? Before I respond to my customer that he can't do this, is there any work-around?

Thanks,garron

No, TurboActivate should work fine under guest accounts. Tell them to re-enable the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service. That is, they likely "optimized" their computer by disabling essential system services that are needed by TurboActivate (and many, many other programs).

Let me just update this thread with the correct information. TurboActivate does work under guest accounts, but you first have to modify the permissions of the guest account to allow access to the Windows Management Instrumentation. In other words, Windows, by default, doesn't allow guest accounts to access WMI.

Of course, all other account types can access WMI just fine.
