Offline Activation Option

Hi,

I think I must be going crazy. A customer of mine has just had a problem trying to activate so I asked him to try the offline activation option. He replied saying there was no such option, asking where it is. So I fired up the product and tried to find it myself ... and I can't. I've used offline activation before - I've received and sent XML files with other customers. So why can't I see the option. Where is it?

Have I switched something off somehow? How can I get my customer to do offline activation?

If you're talking about using the offline activation option in the TurboActivate wizard, you should know this option is presented in 2 different cases:

  1. The user tries to online activate, but it fails due to an Internet connection problem. (The offline activation option is shown on the error screen).
  2. The user's trial period has expired, there's a "More options" button on the first screen, clicking that will show the offline activation option.

But back to the original error -- what's wrong? What error are they getting? Tell them to type wyday.com in their browser. Do they see our website or do they see an error page?

Thanks.

He says they are getting error code 11.

OK, it sounds like you're using an old version of TurboActivate. Use the latest version (where the error is spelled out instead of just showing an obscure number -- plus we have many other fixes in the latest version.)

Here's the error:

A COM error occurred. TurboActivate requires Windows XP or above. If you're using Windows XP or newer then make sure the "Windows Management Instrumentation" Windows Service is not disabled.

In other words go into services and enable "Windows Management Instrumentation". That's the cause of the problem 99% of the time.
