Please never issue a product code with BETA in itAnswered

Someone just bought my program

The product code ended with BETA

They think it is a beta version and want their money back

Please update your code to never create a product code with BETA in it

Huh?

We don't release beta versions. Not in decades. The last beta product we released was wyBuild 1.0 beta. And that was a long time ago.

If you're talking about your own product, then you're in charge of the product & version names. Log into  your LimeLM account, edit the product and/or version names, redownload the TurboActivate.dat and include it with your app.

Then train your staff not to use “BETA” in the name.

Keys always end with TA. Statistically it happens that the keys ends with XXX-XXX-BETA. In fact it happens to me 1.85 times for each thousand keys, so far with very few comments. Maybe the wyDay algorithm could automatically scrap the keys terminating with BETA.

Answer

Ohh… product keys.

Yeah, we try to avoid words because people can get upset about them. Obviously our “No bad words in keys” filtering isn’t perfect. But “beta” being inside the key is not a problem for us.

This isn’t a priority.

If you care, then when generating a key, if it contains “BETA” then delete the key and generate a new one.

Had the same problem with a customer. Would really appreciate if you can add “BETA” to the “bad words keys”.

It's not critical of course but it would be a nice to have in a future update.

We have no plans to do this. Firstly, because BETA isn't a bad word. Secondly, you can do your own filtering based on words you don't like:

  1. Generate a key.
  2. Contains adjacent letters that makes users irrationaly uncomfortable?
  3. Delete the key. Go back to step 1.
