What version of wyBuild are you using? What version of wyUpdate.exe have you included with your app? What version of the AutomaticUpdater are you using with your app? (For wyUpdate & AutomaticUpdater, right click, Click Properties, Click Details tab)/
wyUpdate exited prematurely
I have built and tested my update on an XP machine and all seems fine. When I try to do the update on my Win 7 machine I get "wyUpdate ended before the current update step could be completed." If I clear the cache as described in other forum articles I get this message. If I don't I get a flashing update window (cool strobe effects) and it tells me "Failed to connect to the new version of wyUpdate.exe".
What have I done wrong?
All 3 are 2.6.18.0
Really, I need a whole lot more information.
At what point in the process is this happening? Are you using the AutomaticUpdater or the AutomaticUpdaterBackend? Are you putting the AutomaticUpdater on your main form (or on a splash screen)?
It would be best if you could reproduce this in a small test app.
I have no idea what happened. After successfully installing on 2 xp machines and another windows7 system I was more confused.
I uninstalled the application, deleted the cache directories, then rebooted the problem test computer. After the reboot all seems to be working fine again.
I did not see any wy* processes running before the reboot, so I assumed nothing was running. Are there other processes that run with wyupdate that are not called wy* that could have bee detected in the task manager?
Yes, InstantUpdate.exe. If you can reproduce this in the future let us know. We'll keep an eye out for something like this in our tests.
