Floating License

Does LimeLM support floating licenses yet? Do you have any examples or info on the site about it?

Hey Rich,

It's coming soon (we have beta testers stress-testing it & finding bugs for us now). We're releasing it for Windows first, then Linux, Mac, and Solaris will follow shortly after.

In the meantime there are a few things you can do. One way to get ghetto-floating licensing is to call Deactivate(0) on every close of your app and call Activate() everytime your app starts. This way you can create a product key that that allows N computers to run your app simultaneously. Obviously this is less than ideal, and not floating licensing, but some of our customers have had luck with that (while they wait for floating licensing).

Tell me your thoughts. Also, will Windows-only for the proper floating license server (TurboFloat) work for starters or are you delivering to multiple platforms at once?

Just for windows only. 🙂

Wish List:

- Query how many license's are in use and available (I want to have a dialog to show license status in the app)- Ability to identify who is using license- Ability to deactivate a license (i.e. somebody left there machine on over night and I want to kill there license)- Ability to start with a trial license then switch to floating later

Yep, that's all included.

Any idea on when this might come out? Can we sign up to be notified?

Sure, send me an email and I'll notify you when TurboFloat (the floating license server) is out.
