Feature request - print project (or export)

Good morning,

A feature request if possible please - to be able to "print" a wyUpdate project?

We're documenting the process and recording version details; and are finding ourselves "print-screening" the pages in the wyBuild project so we've recorded some key information - the basics (names); the version (current but previous too); the settings (as these are rather key; and some are in the File/Properties so not "obvious").

All this info is in the "wyBuild Project" file. It'd just be great to be able to get a print out of it too - or an export (to MS Word or whatever). A "snapshot" for our version control as it were.

Thanks,

Dr. Michael Dye.

Hey Michael,

I'm not quite sure what you're asking for. What information do you need? Is there a reason you need to "print" this information out?

Everning Wyatt,

'cause I'm paranoid?!?!

Well; the complicating factors are #1 we're using a custom wyUpdate (due to potential non-access to internet, intranet only) and #2 there are already 4 projects wanting this - so there's a lot to keep track of.

Having been carefully documenting the steps that are needed to "publish" a new release I found myself screen-shotting (!?) the various 'areas' of wyBuild to show what had been done, and what was needed.

Struck me what I needed was like an XML output of the wyBuild settings; or rather a tree like output (with some branches that were optional):

wyBuild Project settings name etc. download site theme, language etc. (optional) Project deep settings (optional) servers used, (this is Files/Properties) V1.0 description (the changes text) (optional) files with their size/modified by etc. V1.1 description... etc.

Maybe as we get more used to this we won't need it but... Just struck me as something that'd be useful - though we avoid printing a lot of things I've noticed a "demand" for a sort of 'properties export' - we do this quite often on our programs; not the results of the program as much as an overview of the settings/current file etc.

I wonder; does that make any sense?!?

Thanks,

Dr. Michael Dye.

This isn't possible yet. For a couple reasons. Firstly, wyBuild is the best place to view the contents of the wyBuild project file (Printing it to a text file would be massively confusing). Secondly, the spec for all wyBuild generate files is open for all to use (see: File speicifications).
