What version of wyUpdate are you using? Are you running as an admin, or as a limited user with "special permissions"?Where are you installing your app?
Hi,
I am getting the following error when I run wyUpdate.exe.I have the updated files hosted on a seperate FTP server (apache FTP).
-------------------------Failed to set the ACL (access control list) on the files and folders. Make sure this user has the ability to read and write ACL properties of files and folders. Full error: The process does not possess the 'SeSecurityPrivilege' privilege which is required for this operation.-------------------------
Any ideas what this is?

wyBuild version 2.6.17.1.
Not running as admin, but the user I'm logged in as is a member of the 'Administrators' user account group (Windows XP Pro, SP3).
Application installed locally on C: drive
wyBuild version 2.6.17.1.
Right, but are you using wyUpdate 2.6.16.4? (Right click wyUpdate.exe, click Properties, and you'll see the version number of wyUpdate).

So when you run wyUpdate as a non-admin user, is wyUpdate prompting you for an admin user/password?Are you launching wyUpdate in any special way, or are your just double clicking it?What happens when you run wyUpdate with a freshly created admin account?
Application installed locally on C: drive
Right, but what folder? Different users have varying access permissions to different folders.
- wyUpdate version: 2.6.16.4
- I don't get prompted for an admin username/password. Like I say, I'm part of the administrators group.- I get an identical error when logging in using the administrator user account.
- Launching it simply by double clicking.
- Application installed in C:\<nameofapp>
This is odd. Can you reproduce this on any other computers? Did you set any special ACL settings for the folder?

Just tried on another machine in here. Identical error.I wouldn't know how to set any special ACL settings. Is there something I can do to check?
It's on the second step of the update where it fails. So a message appears to say "Downloading Update". That seems to work.
Then the next step fails but the text disappears before I can see it.
What is happening on this second step? Is it extracting files? If so, to where? Is it backing up files? If so, to where?
Any other ideas?
The ACL error is happening on the installation step. When the error happens your update is rolled back to the previous version.
We're not having any luck reproducing this problem. What program are you using to create the initial folder (and install the files)?
Using NSIS as the installer.
It's a Java based program, so it's kicked off via a .bat file which calls a .jar file.Does that make any difference?
Can you send me an email with a link to the current version that's failing to be updated? That is, a link to the installer so I can install it and try to reproduce this.
