wyUpdate will not download updates - connection timeout

Hi there,

I am puzzled .. with one very very strange problem.

Today we've updated to the latest version (2.6.14.0).

Well.. actually there are two issues:

1. Lost certificate - is it possible to fix this issue anyhow or clients will need to be supplied a new client file?2. Connection timeout problems:

- wyUpdate is able to detect there are new updates (and shows change log, plus i see the requests on the web server as successful)- when the user tries to download and install the updates - the next window in the process - all which is seen is the download progress bar - at full (100% done) and just saying: Downloading... This continues for some time until the timeout is hit and the error message at the end is:

Error trying to save file: Error downloading "http://download.stampii.com/updates/windows/stampii.1.3.13.277.to.1.3.14.279.wyu": Se excediel tiempo de espera de la operaci

The files are there, with the correct rights and are reachable from curl without any issue.

I've tested this on several machines - which leads me to think the problem might not be the connection but something else...

The strangest thing is that wyUpdate shows the above URL correctly - which means it can detect whatever is necessary for the update - only cannot download the file?

Any ideas?

Thanks, Martin

I'm going to need a whole lot more information. What do you mean by "lost cetificate"? Can you copy & paste the exact error.

2. Connection timeout problems:

Send me your client.wyc file to support@wyday.com. I'll try to reproduce it here.

I don't know what happened... but now the connection is ok..

The question about the certificate - i am referring to signing the updates.

The problem is that we've lost the original certificate with which previous updates were signed and i've found about this today when we needed to release a new update.

I had to reinstall wyUpdate - with the latest version.

Had to create a new file from scratch - added everything necessary for the update and a new signature certificate was generated (by the new wyupdate installation).

I built the updates, uploaded the server installation files and tried to upgrade one of the now obsolete applications (which were build several months ago with a previous wyUpdate version and most probably a different certificate).

The upgrade process detects the new version, starts and downloads the files from the server - but once the download has completed - the last dialog is shown - without an error - only a button Finish and a button See Details (or Changes if i recall) - if you click it - nothing happens - it just disappears.

No updates have been done to the application.

I am guessing this is caused by the different certificate and an error condition which is not displayed to the user.

You can observe this for testing purposes by:

1. Downloading and installing the previous version of the application: http://download.stampii.com/windows/Stampii.exe

2. Try to update (there are updates on the server now with the new installation / certificate)

So basically.. i am trying to find a way to not make a few thousand users angry that they can't update from the app itself - but from the website by reinstalling it 🙁

If it's of any help i've made a simple screenshot - of the final screen upon updating.

PS: One little bug which has nagged us for a while also - check out the way the 'Click Finish to exit' label appears.

How wide is the image you're using in your theme? If the image is too wide (it looks like that's the case here) then all the controls are moved over.

Maybe we should limit the maximum width of the image.

So you don't have the original wyBuild project file anymore? That's where the sign keys are stored.
