Password protected proxy problem

Hi.

Some of our customers use a password protected proxy server on their networks which local machines must pass through in order to reach the internet. These proxy servers have beeen configured to accept the user's Windows log on credentials.

This means that browsing from the local network with ordinary web broswers (IE, Chrome...) can be done without being prompted for username/password every time you start the broswer - somehow these browsers seem to know how to automatically retrieve the windows credentials and pass them on to the proxy server without the user being involved, which is very nice.

It seems that WyUpdate cannot figure out how to do the same thing, and because WyUpdate never prompts the user for username/password, update checks always fail under these circumstances.

I know that WyUpdate can be configured with the proper username/password to use when checking for updates, but this requires the user to configure the username/password somewhere, which is unhandy. Furthermore, users are often forced to change their passwords regularly, and every time they do, they must also remember to reconfigure their WyUpdate-based applications.

Why can't WyUpdate just behave like ordinary web brosers and submit the user's Windows credentials when prompted by the proxy server?

Hey Martin,

What version of wyUpdate are you using? The latest version of wyUpdate should get the system credentials correctly.

Sounds great that the latest version would solve this problem.

Currently we use wyUpdate version 2.5.25.0.

There have been a number of large fixes since wyUpdate 2.5.25. See: Changes in wyBuild, wyUpdate & AutomaticUpdater.

Thank you very much, Sam.

The new version seems to have solved the problem perfectly.
