wyUpdate.exe doesn't run on win7 without admin

I am using win 7 home premium and I am trying to run wyUpdate.exe as created by wyBuild. The problem is that even if I try to execute it as standalone or using the automaticUpdater class, it does nothing, unless I "run it as administrator".

I get no response if the executable is in Program files or in Desktop.

The wyUpdate.exe runs well on my win xp.

So is there a way I could use the wyUpdate to check for updates for my application on win 7?

RegardsIoannis

Hey Ioannis,

wyUpdate does run without admin privleges. It only requests admin privleges later if it needs them. I can't reproduce the behavior you're talking about.

Try just double clicking wyUpdate.exe -- does it show in the task manager? Or does it quickly appear then disappear? Are you running wyUpdate with any commanline switches?

Hello sam.It seems that the problem occurs when there is already on wyUpdate.exe running.Second attempt to execute the application, if not logged in as administrator, conflicts with the first one and the application doesn't appear.Right?

I don't know why the application was running but I think under some circumstances my application may close and leave wyUpdate.exe running. I have to prevent this.

Regards

wyUpdate does limit itself to a single instance. But it should never get stuck in a situation that you see. I'll look into this.
