What versions of wyUpdate and the AutomaticUpdater are on that computer? Open the Task Manager. Is wyUpdate running?
Hi
I have been using wyBuild/wyUpdate/AutomaticUpdater successfully to keep software up to date on a large number of computers within my organization. It seems to be working without any problems, except on a single computer. On this computer, AutomaticUpdater seems to be stuck on 'Before Downloading'. The updates were working fine until yesterday, and no new updates have been pushed. However, it goes to 'Checking for updates', and then to 'Before Downloading' and seems to stay there forever. I don't understand why this should happen, because I haven't created any new updates on the server, so it shouldn't go beyond Checking for Updates. It should just say 'Up to date' like the other computers do.
Do you have any idea what might be causing this? The computer is running Windows XP.
Thanks
Omaer

Shortly after the problem occurred, the computer hung and I was forced to do a Hard Reboot. I'm not able to reproduce the error now - it seems to be working fine. However, I am curious as to the possible cause for the problem so if you have any guesses, I'd like to know. When I was trying to figure out the cause (before the hang/reboot), I did check that wyUpdate.exe was not running in the background and there was no GUID-named Cache file generated in AppData.
The version of wyUpdate is: 2.6.14.0 and the version of AutomaticUpdater is: 2.6.14.0 (both the same).
Thanks!
I'll look into this. Unfortunately there's not nearly enough information to know what happened. When you say "the computer hung" it sounds like there were other larger problems with the computer that may have caused the unusual problems.
Thanks - you're right, there were bigger issues - we figured out that the RAM was bad and had to be replaced. Everything's working fine now - I guess that might have been a freak event. Only thing weird about it was that until the computer 'hung', the issue persisted over reboots, so I figured the cache file might be involved, but wasn't able to find it... Just wondering - does wyUpdate cache it's data somewhere instead of checking for updates every time?
