No matter what i try I can't reach my ftp server

I keep getting a 505 error.. but when I type in the download site with the file name into internet explorer the file comes.. no problem. Server is an open source FPT server. Changing the extensions to zip produces the same exact error.

Error trying to save file: Error downloading "ftp://username:pass@myserver.abcdef.com/wyserver.zip": The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).

Any ideas.. Richdeathpig@att.net

oh.. i forgot to mention. putting the ftp://username:password@myservername.com/thefilename downloades the files .zip or the default extensions. The Ftp server seems to be fine.

My guess is either the username or password is incorrect or the file doesn't exist on the folder it's supposed to exists in on your server. Did you try copying the exact url shown in the error and pasting it in a browser (don't retype it)? Does it download?

Yeah.. I was able to download from a browser. I finally decided to just try another FTP hosting service. It now works! Exavault.com did NOT work for me. They use an opensource server ProFTP or something, and i couldnt get anyone to answer my email. DriveHQ works great though. And they give you a free gig to use! Score right!

Thanks for the help.
