Activated Users list

Hi,

I am one of your customer at coimbatore, India. When i log in to the portal and see the dashboard, i can see the products that i have created and am able to further drill down to the product to see the license keys for that product. Once, when i click any of the key, i am able to see the no. of activations and the IPs of the computers in which it got activated. I would like to know if MAC ID can be listed there to ensure fool proof activations in the customer place.Previously,, the Internet IP got listed once a activation is successful in a computer. Since, the Public IP for an enterprise will be common for all the computers, it was difficult for us to track on which computer it got installed/ activated.

So, I would suggest if you can get the computer name and MAC ID of the PC during activation.. it would be great for us to track on which computer our software got installed and activated.

thanks in advance,

Hey Suki,

There are a few valid reasons for displaying unique information alongside the IP address, and we are considering adding it. But as far as tracking whether the user has activated or not, LimeLM handles all that. LimeLM doesn't use the IP address at all for activation purposes, it's only for display purposes to give you a general hint where the activation came from.

Thanks sam for ensuring that you dont consider only the IP for validating the activation. It would be great if you could give some more information on the activated system like computer name/ mac id etc.,Since few of the computers will share the same public/ internet IP in a LAN based office setup, it would be difficult for us to track on which computer our software is activated. Ex: one of our client "ABC Corp" uses a broad band internet connection with the IP - 67.227.58.78 and all the machines in that lan would use the same internet IP. Say, 5 of 10 computers in that LAN has activated the software through Lime LM. Now, It is difficult for us to differentiate on which 5 computers have been activated. Hope you understand what i mean.and one more case which i would like to bring in to your notice is that.. once a sytem uses a different key for activation, the older log in the portal is not getting cleared. Ex: 192.168.10.1 has activated the software using the license key "aaaa:aaaa:aaaa:aaaa:aaaa" on 1/10/10 which have a unique license feature and expiry on 31/10/10 with total activations allowed is 1.In the mean time, if i deactivate the license in 192.168.10.1 and activate using a different key "bbbb:bbbb:bbbb:bbbb:bbbb", the no. of activations in the previous key to be altered to 0 since.. now i am using a different key for the activations. But, it is not happening so. Please advice me as on how to clear the existing value that is mapped against a particular key.

When you user deactivates, the key activation count will decrease. Maybe they reactivated the same key again? Also, why are you giving multiple keys to the same user? You can just modify the feature value of the existing key.
