nothing happens when starting wyupdate.exe

Hi,

an administrator of our client just called me and told me that "nothing happens at all" when double-clicking wyUpdate.exe. Do you know of any condition that cloud cause such behaviour? Is there any way to find out was is going wrong?

.NET 4.0 must be installed, because our application is working.

Edit: I told him to try on another machine. He reported the same problem. So far this problem only occurs at our clients in Poland.

ThanksDavid

Tell them to open task manager, re-arrange the processes by name, then scroll to the bottom of the list. Then, when the start wyUpdate does it open at all? Does it close right away or does it remain open?

What version of wyUpdate are they using? Are they using a custom built version of wyUpdate? Tell them to right click wyUpdate.exe, click Properties, then go to the Digital Signing tab -- is wyUpdate digitally signed?

Thanks for your input! I did what you recommended, here are the results.

They opened wyUpdate with taskmanager on the side, but did not notice any process opening.

We shipped version 2.6.18.4, original produced by wyBuild.

They sent me a screenshot with the digital signing information. Everything looks fine.

Additionally to your suggestions, I did come up with the following:- Run as Administartor -> no effect- Windows version: 7 Prof. 32bit, english language with some polnisch culture settings (e.g. date format)- What .NET versions are installed? Answer: Only .NET 4.5. Our other customers (it works everywhere else) have .NET 4.0 Client Profile, so this is an interesting find. However, I could not reproduce it on my test VM when I installed 4.5 there. I told them to downgrade anyways, so we will see.

I'm waiting for the response to .NET downgrade now. Also, I gave them a batch file to check the return code of wyUpdate.

Do you have any further suggestions in the meantime?

You're using the .NET 4.0 version of wyUpdate correct (File -> Properties -> wyUpdate, click .NET 4.0)? If not, then that could be the cause of the problem.

Other than that, then I don't know what could cause the problem. There's not nearly enough information provided. There's no error? Just nothing? Honestly, it sounds like the computer is misconfigured (crazy customizations, viruses, etc.) I don't know I'm just speculating.
