wyBuild Licensing

I wonder whether wyBuild uses LimeLM for its licensing.

If so, I'm a bit concerned. But I may be misunderstanding how LimeLM works, so maybe you can correct me.

It appears LimeLM runs on a server under your control. This would mean that in the unfortunate event anything were to happen to you, wyBuild would then cease to work for me.

Can you clarify?

Thanks,Jeff Bowman

We currently use a precursor to LimeLM. We're seamlessly switching to LimeLM in wyBuild 2.7.0.

wyBuild will only contact the servers on activation. All other times you can run wyBuild completely disconnected from the internet.

We're doing very well financially, but if you're still worried we can talk about source code escrow.

That's good to know, thank you. A one-time connection requirement at activation is sufficient--I'll consider the rest at a later time.

Source code escrow sounds too expensive and complicated for the situation, frankly. You might be able to clear that up for me.

Thanks,Jeff Bowman

phpBB (our current forum software) is a piece of garbage. Nothing works correctly. We plan to migrate to a custom developed forum software once it gets up-to-snuff.

It's both those things. Typically only larger companies request source code escrow.

Since you're planning on replacing the forum, you might want to check out http://www.forummatrix.orgThey have a decent Wizard which helps select a forum software based on your requirements.

I have a single user license for wyBuild etc. and I have now brought on a developer to help me add localization to my product. He is to do some changes to my core product but has nothing to do with releasing interim or final versions to customers. What does he need to be able to compile the code whilst I remain in control of releases?

Gotcha. Thanks.

If he's using wyBuild then he needs to purchase a copy too (or you purchase a copy for him).

As fas as compiling the code, it depends entirely on your toolset. For instance, if you're making a C# app then he'll probably need a copy of Visual Studio.
