wyUpdate version error

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "it does not upgrade the wyUpdate correctly... it's always another version!".

What's wyUpdate updating itself to? (What version number?) And what do you expect it to update to?

I'm sorry, I will try to explain better the problem.

The latest version of the wyUpdate was compiled the 29th February, and I uploaded the new update in the same day.

I've tried to download the update, and the version of the wyUpdate downloaded was the one of December (so it wasn't the last), I was expecting the 29th feb version of the exe... I don't know why it doesn't upload or download the correct version of the wyUpdate. Anyway, the update downloaded was the latest, so why it doesn't download even the latest wyUpdate version?

Where should I look to see where the wyUpdate .exe is on my server? I would like to control which version is downloaded with the update.

When you build your updates with the latest version of wyBuild, then when wyUpdate downloads and installs the updates for your app then it will also download and install the latest self-update of wyUpdate.

No way to do it...

I can't understand where my wyUpdate download the new wyUpdate.exe version...

Can you please explain why my wyUpdate is searching the updates in the correct folder but, even if I rebuild the correct version of my wyUpdate and upload it on my website, it downloads an older version of my wyUpdate.exe???

I build the new version on 06/03/2012, I upload it on the folder where it should download the new version, and it ALWAYS download the 03/03/2012 version (that I never uploaded, anyway...) of wyUpdate, instead of the 06/03/2012 version.

Why? It always worked correctly downloading the new version.

Maybe the problem is that I have changed computer and installed on the new one the wyClient? I'm forgetting something?

I need much more information before I can help you.

1. What version of wyBuild are you using to build your updates? Click Help -> About.
2. What's the "old" version of wyUpdate.exe you're building with wyBuild? (Right click the file, Click "Properties", and tell me the exact version)
3. What's the "new" version of wyUpdate.exe being updated to?
4. Are you making a custom version of wyUpdate?
5. In wyBuild, click File -> Properties -> wyUpdate --- do you have any "self-update" sites listed? If you're not using self-updates then you shouldn't have any sites listed.

Ok, let's see if those information are enough...

1. 2.6.17.02. I'm building the 2.6.14.0 version of wyUpdate with wyBuild

3. The "new" version is the same of the old one, 2.6.14.0, with some differences. I only forget to change the version number but it is a different one.

4. I did those steps: I downloaded the source code from here and I have changed something in the code. Then I changed the .exe needed to build wyUpdate with my .exe, so it's a "custom version". Now, when I build the wyUpdate.exe with wyBuild, the wyUpdate have my little changes. It's ok.

All is working, but when I upload a new patch and try to download it with my wyUpdate.exe, it download the "newest" version of wyUpdate.exe but it doesn't have my changes!!! So I guess it is downloading an older version (because I changed those stuff in the code some months ago)...

(p.s. anyway, I will change the "new" wyUpdate version from 2.6.14.0 to 2.6.14.1 to see if something happens and to help you to understand something!) 5. I don't have any sites listed. Should wyUpdate download the new version anyway? I'm sorry, and I hope that now it's more clear for you...

If you're building your own version of wyUpdate then you need to supply the self-update site for your own version of wyUpdate. See: How to make a custom version of wyUpdate.

You also need to remain current with the latest source code of wyUpdate.
