wyBuild updates feature

Hello,

thank you for your good product that I've purchased a week ago.

Consider this scenario. In version 1.2 I want to insert a new dll (example.dll).

When I create the 1.3 version, I create a new folder, insert there all the files but it could be that I forget example.dll (it has happened). I don't create fully functioning folders, because I also have files like embedded database that I DON'T want to include in wyBuild, so I can't insert them to test the folder. I only copy-paste some files from a folder to the 1.3 folder, so some files CAN be forgetted. (maybe it is just me)

Now, if someone updates his application, example.dll is deleted (because it is present in v.1.2, but not in 1.3). And I'm in a mess.

Is it possible to exclude the autodeletion property for some files? Or there is something that could help me not to forget the file? (something like a message box: "hey, example.dll is in v.1.2 but NOT in v.1.3, are you sure you want to delete it?")

Thank you very muchClaudio

Hey Claudio,

No. The way to prevent deletion of files is to include *all* the files for every version within wyBuild.

Or there is something that could help me not to forget the file? (something like a message box: "hey, example.dll is in v.1.2 but NOT in v.1.3, are you sure you want to delete it?")

We could add a summary of the files added, changed, and removed after you build your updates. That way you could see what effect the update will have on the target computer. Would that be helpful?

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

I thought about it and I made some tests in the weekend. I arrived to an ideal configuration for me, so it is not so important for me to see the files updated, deleted or inserted in every version. Thank you anyway for your disponibility.

Kind Regards

Claudio

Hey Claudio,

This would be sooo Helpful.. I would buy another license just for that feature... Would it be possible to not only view the action but select a different action.. that would be even better... EXAMPLE: instead of delete/remove a file from a previous update simply select ignore or rename.. 😀 😀

Ok, John. We'll add this to wyBuild 2.7.0 or 2.7.x.
